From 19-23 October 2024, the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) Member States gathered for a pivotal workshop focused on the Africa Leadership Meeting (ALM) Declaration: Investing in Health Diagnostic and Monitoring Tools. The tools offer a comprehensive framework for assessing and improving health financing practices across the West African region.

AU Member States present included Ghana, Sierra Leone, Liberia, The Gambia, and Nigeria. This workshop marks a key step towards advancing health financing reforms, helping member states address challenges and leverage opportunities to increase domestic investments in health.

Organised by the West African Health Organization (WAHO), with guidance from the AU Commission and African Union Development Agency-NEPAD (AUDA-NEPAD), the event aimed to fortify the capacities of officials in the Ministries of Health and Finance.
