14 June 2022 – Dakar, Senegal: The 2022 AIDS Watch Africa (AWA) Consultative Experts Committee Meeting began on Tuesday, 14 June.
Health Experts at the frontline of the fight against AIDS, tuberculosis and malaria across African Union (AU) Member States convened for the two-day consultative meeting to deliberate on matters which require renewed political commitment by Africa’s Heads of State and Government.
The Experts Meeting was held under the theme: “Leveraging Food and Nutrition Security Interventions to fast-track actions towards ending AIDS, Tuberculosis and eliminating Malaria by 2030”, in line with the African Union theme of the year for 2022, “Nutrition for Socio-Economic Development, Levers for Building the Africa We Want”. The experts will take stock of the progress of implementation of crucial policies formulated to advance AIDS, tuberculosis and malaria response in Africa. The experts will contribute recommendations compiled into a report presented during the next AU Assembly of Heads of States and Governments in 2023.
